Labour Court recommends €500 payment to worker after disciplinary process fell short

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended that Lining Services (Waterford) Ltd pay a worker €500 after finding its disciplinary process did not fully comply with the Code of Practice on Grievance and Disciplinary Procedures. The recommendation was signed on 21 November 2007. SIPTU, representing the worker, said he was dismissed without a reason and that proper procedures were not followed. The company said work deficiencies led to warnings and dismissal, and that he received one week's notice. The Court found the worker bore responsibility for work deficiencies, but recommended the payment in full and final settlement of the claim.
