The Labour Court recommended that Commissioners for Irish Lights and the Public Service Executive Union urgently agree an ex-gratia payment for staff affected by the employer’s relocation from Pembroke Street to Dun Laoghaire. The recommendation was signed on 12 November 2007. The union sought €1,000 for staff already working amid construction disruption in Dun Laoghaire and €5,000 per employee affected by the move. The Court did not set a payment amount, recommending that the parties agree one within a month or return to the Court for a further recommendation. For disruption at the new building, the Court recommended that Commissioners for Irish Lights offer, and the union accept, one extra day of annual leave in 2008. The employer cited public service policy against relocation payments and pointed to agreed changes to flexible working, worksharing and teleworking.
