The Labour Court recommended that Tallaght Hospital examine how to secure proper accreditation for a training course taken by a ward attendant and health care assistant. The recommendation was signed on 8 November 2007. The worker had sought €2,750 for completing the course, but the Court made no recommendation on compensation. The worker said she had been led to believe the course would be recognised worldwide, but it was recognised only at Tallaght Hospital. The hospital said it had already paid €2,750 to care attendants covered by an earlier adjudication and argued that granting the claim would create further liabilities. The Court noted that the earlier case had produced no result after referral back to an adjudicator, and recommended examining accreditation options instead.
