The Labour Court recommended that Diageo Ireland Limited apply the IAB/Cahill Redundancy Terms to the 16 remaining provincial distribution workers affected by the outsourcing of its Kilkenny and Dundalk operations. The recommendation was signed on 8 November 2007. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and Unite the Union sought enhanced redundancy terms, including a claim of €97,000 per worker for loss of earnings. Diageo opposed treating the 16 workers differently from the wider group of 95 employees. The four workers who were under 50 were to remain employed until each reached 50, when the terms would apply to them.
