Labour Court recommends part-time lecturers' status claim be considered in ongoing talks

The Labour Court recommended that the case for two part-time lecturers at the National College of Art & Design be considered alongside ongoing conciliation discussions on part-time teachers. The recommendation was signed on 23 October 2007. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union argued that both workers had repeatedly met the hours threshold for Eligible Part-time Lecturer status, which the College had granted to other staff. The College said their roles differed from those lecturers and that it was seeking a policy framework for part-time staff. The Court recommended that their case be considered in parallel with the discussions.
