The Labour Court recommended that Aer Lingus introduce a new cabin crew bidding system by March 2008, with discussions on rosters and early starts to follow. The recommendation was signed on 3 October 2007. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU) and the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union sought changes to rolling rosters, rest after long flights, overnight stops and a ninth day off in a 28-day roster. The Court recommended renewed discussions on rest and overnight stops after the pilots’ process, and did not recommend conceding the unions’ proposal for a ninth day off at that time. It said that issue should be discussed again after the new system was introduced.
