In 2007, the Labour Court recommended that Tabetex and Mandate urgently resume talks on pay increases under Towards 2016. The recommendation was signed on 30 September 2007. Mandate sought an increase from €8.48 to €10 an hour, retrospectively from 1 January 2006. Tabetex said it was operating at a loss and could not afford the increase. The Court said the appropriate increases were those due under Towards 2016 and recommended that both sides negotiate when the company’s offer should take effect.
