The Labour Court recommended that Adelaide & Meath Hospital not concede a Medical Laboratory Scientists Association claim for paid compensatory rest after Friday and Saturday night on-call work. The recommendation was dated 24 September 2007. The union said its members should receive paid rest on the same basis as staff covering other nights. The hospital said the claim would increase costs and it complied with working-time requirements. The Court said the scientists already received compensatory rest, but sought payment for that time off. It recommended that the issue be addressed in national discussions on a new system of laboratory services.
