The Labour Court recommended €12,000 in compensation for a worker it found had been constructively dismissed by Blessington Lakeshore Resorts Ltd T/A Avon Rí Corporate & Leisure Resort. The recommendation was signed on 17 July 2007.
The worker said the resort’s owner reinstated an employee he had dismissed without consulting him or addressing his concerns. He said the failure to discuss the decision undermined his trust in management and left him feeling he had no option but to resign.
The company did not attend the hearing but maintained that the worker had resigned. The Court considered the worker’s evidence uncontested and found that he had been constructively dismissed, then awarded compensation of €12,000.
