Labour Court recommends uncapped redundancy terms for seven Ad Tec Teoranta workers

The Labour Court recommended that Ad Tec Teoranta pay seven workers statutory redundancy plus an ex gratia amount of two weeks’ pay per year of service, with no cap. The recommendation was signed on 28 June 2007. The company had offered 3.5 weeks’ pay per year of service, capped at 65 weeks. Amicus argued that the cap would substantially reduce payments for workers with long service. The Court noted that previous redundancy payments had been uncapped and said it was not satisfied that a sustainable case had been made for imposing a cap.
