The Labour Court recommended that a worker at Chadwick’s Ltd remain in the transport co-ordinator role after a temporary transfer from clerical duties. The recommendation, signed on 1 June 2007, said the company should tell him about future Grade III vacancies and give him the opportunity to apply. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought his return to clerical work. The Court accepted the transfer was prudent and supported management’s right to redeploy staff, but said the way the change was handled was not fair and reasonable.
