In 2007, the Labour Court recommended enhanced severance terms for a worker made redundant after Gerflor Ltd closed its sales office. The recommendation was signed on 25 May 2007. The worker sought six weeks’ pay per year of service, statutory redundancy payments and enhanced pension arrangements. Gerflor’s final offer was three and a half weeks’ pay per year plus statutory redundancy payments. The Court recommended four weeks’ pay per year of service, statutory redundancy payments and three years of notional service for pension purposes. It also recommended including a 3% pay increase due before the redundancy in the severance calculation.
