The Labour Court recommended that Permanent TSB recognise a disputed half-day of Christmas leave as due to former Irish Permanent staff. Amicus brought the dispute over the bank’s 2005 Christmas leave arrangements. The recommendation was signed on 15 February 2007. The Court said the bank’s decision to give all staff a day off in lieu when Christmas Eve fell on a Saturday negated the half-day differential agreed for former Irish Permanent staff in 2001 and 2004. Permanent TSB had argued that the arrangements were consistent with normal banking practice.
