Labour Court recommends €500 for Ultra Secure worker over late wages

The Labour Court recommended that Ultra Secure Ltd pay a worker €500 after finding that late wage payments caused considerable inconvenience and aggravation and breached a fundamental employer obligation. The recommendation was dated 23 January 2007. The dispute concerned wages repeatedly paid late between May and October 2006. The union said the worker was due to be paid by bank transfer each Friday, but on one or two occasions payment arrived the following Monday or Tuesday. The employer did not attend the hearing, and the Court relied on the union's uncontradicted submission.
