The Labour Court recommended further discussion between the Irish Aviation Authority and the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union about proposed changes affecting air traffic control officers. The recommendation was signed on 12 January 2007. The Authority said its agenda of changes formed part of normal ongoing change under Towards 2016 and would not fundamentally alter controllers’ work or lead to job losses. The union argued the changes went beyond normal ongoing change and should be negotiated, with a possible pay increase. The Court noted that the parties agreed some issues were covered by normal ongoing change. It said the other elements warranted further discussion between them.
