The Labour Court recommended higher pay, a 25% night-shift premium where night work arises, and improved overtime rates for workers employed by Swords Packaging Limited. The recommendation was signed on 9 January 2007. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought higher hourly rates, a 25% night premium and enhanced overtime payments. The company had proposed pay rises and a 12% night premium. The Court recommended hourly rates of €8.85 for starting pay, €9.65 after 12 months and €10 after five years, with the first phase of Towards 2016 applying from 1 January 2007. It also recommended time-and-a-half for weekday hours above 39 and the first four Saturday hours, and double time for other Saturday hours and Sunday work.
