The Labour Court found a worker’s claim for enhanced redundancy of 4.5 weeks’ pay per year of service, including statutory redundancy, reasonable and in line with similar industry settlements. The recommendation was dated 31 October 2006. The worker had been head chef at Hotel Kilkenny until it closed for refurbishment. He said he had expected to return as head chef but was offered a banqueting chef role at a lower salary. Griffin Group Hotels said staff were treated alike and there was no agreement to pay more than statutory redundancy.
