The Labour Court recommended that Galway Association retain one concessionary leave day after a dispute with the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union and Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over the withdrawal of two days. The recommendation was signed on 23 October 2006. The union said the leave had become established custom and practice over more than 20 years. Management said revised leave arrangements benefited many workers, those who lost out retained their higher entitlement personally, and increased leave and pay costs came without additional funding.
