Labour Court declines union claim over Central Bank supervisory competition

By Eimear Byrne

Historic decision · Decision date:

Place: no local area assigned from the source.

The Labour Court did not recommend concession of Services Industrial Professional Technical Union’s claim to reopen a Central Bank supervisory-post competition. It found no evidence of unfairness or irrationality, noting the job was advertised to qualified internal candidates and candidates were told the interview panel’s composition in advance without objecting. The Court recommended that Central Bank and the union agree criteria for future competitions, including panel composition and grievance arrangements. The recommendation was signed on 19 October 2006.
