The Labour Court recommended that management’s offer of one nursing post, four care assistants and 1.4 driver posts be accepted at the new hospital at St Johns Hospital, Enniscorthy. It also recommended a staffing review when the hospital reaches full capacity and one extra day of annual leave, once-off, for claimants who fully cooperate with the move. The recommendation was dated 16 October 2006. The Irish Nurses Organisation and Services Industrial Professional Technical Union sought more staff and extra leave for workers affected by the move. HSE (SOUTH EAST) management said staffing had increased since the 2000 Brady Report and that fewer patients needed care. The Court said the review should consider patient dependency, upgraded facilities and envisaged patient numbers, with nurse managers and union representatives involved.
