The Labour Court has recommended that SQS, formerly Cresta Testing, pay a worker €30,000 in compensation after his summary dismissal. The recommendation was dated 9 October 2006.
The worker said he expected to pass probation after receiving positive feedback, but was told on 15 December 2005 that he had not passed and that a termination process was starting. He said he was not given a fair appeals process. SQS did not attend the hearing or submit a written case.
The Court relied on the worker's uncontested evidence, his loss of earnings and what it called the unsatisfactory manner of the dismissal. It recommended €30,000 compensation.
