The Labour Court recommended that HSE North East revise, where applicable, the permanent contracted hours of community registered general nurses from eight hours a week to their average weekly hours worked, excluding holidays, over the two years before 1 September 2006. The recommendation was dated 28 August 2006. The Irish Nurses Organisation said nurses regularly worked beyond their eight-hour contracts and sought permanent hours reflecting their actual work. The Court made its recommendation under the Flexible Working Agreement 2001.
