The Labour Court recommended that HSE - Mid Western Area - Ennis General Hospital implement the national agreement on time off after on-call work and agree rosters with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. The recommendation was signed on 28 August 2006. Under the recommendation, a radiographer called out between 2am and 7am need not return until the normal afternoon start. Anyone who works continuously from midnight to 6am should receive the full day off. The arrangements were to be in place by 1 October 2006. The union had sought additional full-time radiographers, saying staffing made roster cover difficult; management said existing time-off arrangements followed national norms and included local enhancements.
