The Labour Court recommended that Twil Liimited pay a worker in its Dublin warehouse a personal-to-holder operating allowance of €1.16 an hour on top of salary, with percentage increases matching salary. The recommendation was signed on 18 August 2006. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought an increase in the worker’s basic weekly pay from €364.26 to €500 and an ex-gratia payment on retirement. The Court cited the worker’s 37 years of service and his position as the company’s sole forklift operator and warehouseman, responsible for organising the work and its output.
