The Labour Court recommended that Freefoam Plastics Ltd introduce a sick pay scheme providing four weeks at normal pay and four weeks at half pay in a 12-month period, less social welfare. It dated the recommendation 10 August 2006. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had sought revised sick pay and a procedure allowing union representation in individual grievance and disciplinary matters. The company said it had no difficulty introducing the sick pay scheme initially sought and did not exclude external representation. The Court also recommended that the scheme have no pay for the first three days of illness and a 12-month qualifying period. It recommended grievance and disciplinary procedures that conform to the relevant code and provide for an employee representative.
