The Labour Court rejected a claim by Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union Amicus / MSF for standard five- and ten-hour subsistence allowances for 13 Bord Gais transmission technicians. The unions sought to replace a €5.02 daily lunch allowance, which they said had not risen since 1992. Bord Gais said the proposed allowances were not permitted under Department of Finance guidelines and pointed to existing site allowances. The Court said applying Circular 11/82 was not appropriate in the circumstances. Its recommendation was signed on 26 June 2006.
