The Labour Court recommended that the HSE Midlands restore Dublin ambulance runs to emergency medical technicians, with the proposals in an Industrial Relations Officer’s letter implemented and attached conditions accepted. The dispute with the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union followed a temporary transfer of the runs to private providers in 2004. The Court said the parties should discuss 10-hour shifts if they could improve service efficiency and quality. It saw no merit in conceding or investigating further the union’s claim for loss of earnings. The recommendation was signed on 20 June 2006.
