Labour Court recommends full arrears payment to Limerick City Council operatives

The Labour Court recommended that Limerick City Council pay all arrears of Benchmarking and Sustaining Progress in full to general operatives. It also recommended that the workers agree to transfers under the modernisation agreement, with selection based on criteria agreed by the parties. The Services Industrial Professional Technical Union had disputed the council’s proposed transfers from the cleansing department, which had delayed payment of the final phases of increases. The Court said the agreement allowed transfers and that Job Initiative staffing issues could not override its terms. The recommendation was signed on 19 June 2006.
