The Labour Court recommended that on-call payments for Theatre nurses at Monaghan General Hospital continue for 24 months from January 2005. The recommendation was dated 14 June 2006. The Irish Nurses Organisation sought compensation after out-of-hours trauma and surgical work stopped, ending the need for Theatre nurses to be on call. Management said the hospital had continued the payments for 16 months and considered that adequate. The Court recommended that payments continue for the full 24-month period, or that individual claimants could choose a lump sum for the unpaid remainder. It recommended that the compensation be accepted as full and final settlement of the claim.
