The Labour Court recommended new pay rates and accepted company offers on overtime and Sunday premiums in a dispute between O'Donovan Off Licences Ltd and the Independent Workers Union. The recommendation, dated 31 May 2006, set a €7.65 starting rate for general sales assistants and annual rates of €8, €8.50 and €9 for experienced adult workers over three years. The Court also recommended acceptance of the company’s revised assistant manager and manager salaries, and its offer of time-and-a-half overtime after 39 hours a week or time off in lieu, at the workers’ choice. It accepted the company’s time-and-a-half offer for Sunday work. The Court did not recommend the union’s claims for extra public holiday pay or retrospective implementation of the pay changes.
