The Labour Court recommended a pay increase and a new sick pay scheme in a dispute between Amann Industries Corporation and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. Its recommendation, dated 31 May 2006, adopted an earlier proposal except for sick pay. That proposal included a 50-cent hourly increase from 1 July 2005 and an examination of warehouse workers’ workloads and responsibilities. For sick pay, the Court recommended a non-contributory scheme from 1 January 2007, with four weeks at full pay and four weeks at half pay, less social welfare entitlement in both cases. There would be no payment for the first three days of illness, and employees would need 12 months’ service to qualify.
