The Labour Court has declined to recommend that FMC International extend its employer-matched pension contributions to members of the Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union. The recommendation was signed on 18 May 2006. The union sought the same contribution arrangement as shift workers, whose employer-matched contributions amount to 6% of shift allowance, with the change backdated to January 1999. The Court said standby and call-out payments could not be equated with shift pay and therefore could not recommend concession of the claim.
