Labour Court declines to recommend pay assessment at MTL Moorepark Technology

The Labour Court did not recommend conceding Services Industrial Professional Technical Union's claim for an independent assessment of pay rates for general operatives at MTL Moorepark Technology Ltd. It found the claim was cost-increasing and precluded by the Sustaining Progress pay agreement. The recommendation was signed on 11 May 2006. The union said an assessment should establish whether the dairy sector was the right pay comparator. The company said it was appropriate and that an assessment and resulting increases would add costs and affect viability.
