In 2006, the Labour Court recommended an additional €200 and €850 compensation for distress for a worker represented by the Irish Nurses Organisation in a dispute with the Health Service Executive Mid-Western Area. The recommendation was dated 8 May 2006. The union said the HSE had not fully implemented an earlier Labour Court determination upheld by the High Court. The Court recommended appropriate deputising allowances and treating the worker like the Director of Nursing for duties, responsibilities and remuneration while she deputised without a locum. It did not recommend performance-related pay or automatic entitlement to future acting appointments. A €6,000 compensation award from the earlier determination had already been paid.
