The Labour Court recommended that Glaxo Smith Kline Dungarvan Ltd reinstate a pay and conditions package rejected by workers, with the job rate starting after 12 months’ service instead of 18. The recommendation, signed on 5 April 2006, followed a claim by the Amalgamated Transport And General Workers' Union for a 6% basic-pay increase instead. The Court said the package would significantly increase basic pay and improve employment conditions without conditions attached. It recommended that the amended package be accepted in full and final settlement of the union’s claims submitted in March 2005.
