Labour Court recommends new pay rates and sick pay at Medentech

The Labour Court recommended new pay rates, shift premiums and a sick-pay scheme at Medentech Ltd after unresolved issues were referred by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union. Its recommendation was signed on 5 April 2006. The recommended starting rates were €7.65 an hour in the packing area and €8.33 in production and stores, rising with service to €8.55 and €10 respectively after 18 months. The Court also recommended increases for team leaders and acceptance of the company’s shift-premium offer, with a review of the 18% premium in mid-2007. The recommended sick-pay offer provided 10 days’ leave after 12 months’ service, 15 days after 24 months and 20 days after 36 months, with no payment for the first three days’ absence. The recommendations were to be implemented within one month unless otherwise specified.
