The Labour Court recommended that up to three medically certified absences in a calendar year should not cause workers at Lisheen Mine to lose overtime premiums. The recommendation, signed on 4 April 2006, concerned 51 craftsmen and followed a dispute referred by the Technical, Engineering And Electrical Union. The company agreement required workers to complete 39 hours in a particular week to qualify for overtime. The Court said strict application of that rule could lead to anomalies, and recommended the exception for certified absences.
