The Labour Court recommended that University College Dublin and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (SIPTU) develop agreed guidelines for professorship promotion pathways. It said they should meet the College’s staffing needs while operating fairly, openly and transparently and in line with its equality policies.
The union objected to the Competitive Retention pathway and said two promotions had been made covertly. UCD said the pathway helped it retain key academic staff and that its procedures had been agreed and published.
