The Labour Court recommended a once-off €2,000 payment to each full-time postperson involved in a dispute over travel to Mallow, with a pro-rata payment for part-time staff. The recommendation, dated 27 February 2006, made payment conditional on staff relocating to new premises in Mitchelstown.
An Post and C.W.U disagreed over compensation for employees moved from Mitchelstown. The Court said staff bore major responsibility for not returning to their original base, while accepting that some difficulties were not of their making. It considered some further payment for travel time justified.
