Labour Court recommends against nurses’ night-duty claims

The Labour Court recommended that the Health Service Executive - Western Region not concede the Psychiatric Nurses Association (Pna)’s claims over access to night duty for temporary and permanent nurses. The recommendation was signed on 20 February 2006. The union argued that female nurses in Castlebar had been treated less favourably than male nurses in access to night shifts. The HSE said the arrangements had been settled under a 1995 agreement. The Court found that agreement governed the claims and that the employer had complied with it.
