The Labour Court recommended that the Health Service Executive (HSE) concede two claims brought by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union. The recommendation, dated 6 February 2006, covered salary adjustments for Acting Community Welfare Officers who had acted up from 1993 until the 1998 adjustment applied, and incremental credit for individual Acting Superintendent CWO's on a non-precedential basis. The unions sought the adjustments and increments, while the HSE opposed the claims, citing the 1998 agreement, public-service pay rules and cost implications. The Court said an anomaly existed for the Acting CWO group compared with analogous groups and noted that the Superintendent situation had generally been addressed in other former Health Board areas.
