The Labour Court recommended that The Irish Times’ interpretation of its 2002 agreement on press-team staffing be accepted, subject to full consultation on staffing, retraining and vacancies. The recommendation was dated 8 December 2005. The Court noted the company’s intention to employ two more permanent skilled printers and retrain workers displaced by technology. The dispute involved 13 permanent Irish Print Union members working as printers at the Citywest plant.
