The Labour Court rejected a claim for retrospective shift allowances by non-consultant hospital doctors in the Accident and Emergency Department at Tullamore General Hospital. The recommendation was dated 24 October 2005. The Irish Medical Organisation argued that the doctors should receive the allowance for working unsocial hours. The Health Service Executive -Midland Area said the allowance applied to a continuous 24-hour rotating shift. The Court said the 2000 agreement and employment contracts specified when the premium applied and did not provide for it for the earlier roster.
