The Labour Court recommended €6,000 compensation for a worker it found had been unfairly dismissed by Contract Personnel Limited. The recommendation was signed on 18 October 2005. The worker, a residential sales representative on the Eircom winback campaign, was dismissed after disciplinary proceedings over alleged breaches of the company’s conduct code. Contract Personnel said its investigation followed fair procedures. The Court considered dismissal too severe, noting there had been no previous breaches or warnings and the worker had not been given an opportunity to correct the difficulties. It also recommended that the employment contract specify the consequences of serious regulatory breaches.
