The Labour Court recommended terms in a dispute between Cappoquin Chickens and the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union over redundancies and proposed work-practice changes at the company’s Cappoquin plant. The recommendation was signed on 18 October 2005. The Court recommended an early-start payment of €35 a week and €750 compensation, a €30,000 buy-out for the highest earners, pro rata where appropriate, and a redundancy package of four weeks’ pay per year of service, including statutory entitlement, capped at €65,000. Outstanding Sustaining Progress payment issues were to be processed under the agreement; other matters were agreed or still being discussed locally.
