The Labour Court recommended that Bus Eireann, the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union and the National Bus & Rail Union apply the same training opportunities and loss-of-shift or overtime formula to engineering operatives as to craftworkers. Its recommendation was signed on 10 October 2005. The Court said negotiations on pay rates should proceed on the basis of the relationship between the two groups’ work, alongside negotiations on productivity and flexibility. Unresolved matters could be referred back to the Court for definitive recommendations.
