The Labour Court recommended against a worker’s claims over relocation compensation and shift selection at Harristown Garage. Its recommendation was signed on 17 August 2005. The worker, represented by the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union, sought €1,040 for apprenticeship service from 1960 to 1968 and an opportunity to apply for a three-cycle shift on seniority grounds. The Court said compensation was customarily calculated using post-apprenticeship service only. It considered it reasonable to transfer existing shift workers to the new location, noting that the worker could apply for two additional two-cycle shift vacancies. It recommended against concession of both claims.
