The Labour Court recommended that the National Treatment Purchase Fund pay a worker €5,000 as a goodwill gesture after her secondment as a Patient Care Liaison Nurse was not renewed. The recommendation was signed on 16 August 2005. The Irish Nurses Organisation sought reinstatement and compensation, arguing that the worker had been unfairly dismissed without natural justice or agreed procedures. The NTPF said the worker remained employed by St. Columcille’s Hospital and returned to her hospital role when the secondment ended. The Court took account of her disappointment at the non-renewal and recommended that she accept the payment in full and final settlement of her claims against the NTPF.
