Labour Court recommends no concessions on G & T Crampton union claims

Labour Court ·

The Labour Court recommended no concessions on Building and Allied Trades Union claims at G & T Crampton Limited concerning pensions, sick pay, carpentry terms, shop-steward time off and apprentices. The recommendation was signed on 19 July 2005. The Court said pension and sick-pay arrangements were covered by the industry's Registered Employment Agreement and were not out of line with comparable employments. It found no evidence that shop stewards were restricted or needed the release time claimed, and said a fixed apprentice-to-craft-worker ratio was impracticable and the current number of apprentices adequate.
