Labour Court recommends conceding dental nurses’ travel expense claim

The Labour Court recommended that the Irish Municipal, Public and Civil Trade Union’s claim for dental nurses’ travel expenses be conceded where nurses and dentists travelling to the same clinic could not feasibly share private cars. The recommendation was signed on 30 June 2005. Health Service Executive-Western Area had stopped paying nurses’ travel expenses in 2004, saying staff going to the same location should share transport. The union sought permission for nurses to use their own transport and receive mileage, as well as repayment of expenses incurred since May 2004.
